    Interestingly, the meaning of fitness and health has grown from being focused mostly on athletic performance to include the contemporary health-related aspects.
    The reason for this evolution is simply because fitness or even being fit is often a bit intricate or abstract even; hence, the reason for a wide variety of definitions. For example, government health agencies along with other organizations define physical fitness differently although they actually do agree on specific aspects.
    To get some clarification on the definition, you have to first realize that the definition of fitness is made up of 2 separate parts. And including both parts makes the definition even more accurate. As a matter of fact, the most accepted definition includes a health-related or general fitness component as well as a performance/skill-related or specific fitness (the ability to perform certain aspects of sports or maybe tasks) component. So a definition falls short when it only employs one part.
    Let’s elaborate on the 2 regions of the definition.
    Others argue that fitness and health should be measured from the use of some kind of criteria (for the health related components of physical fitness). health-related or General conditioning comprises those elements of fitness which exhibit a relationship with health status as an outcome of frequent exercise, proper nutrition and diet, along with proper rest for physical relief within needed parameters. Health-related fitness comprises those elements of fitness which display a relationship with health condition. Performance/skill-related fitness involves those components of fitness which enable optimal perform or sport performance.”
